ecobirmingham is a sustainable development charity, focused on building healthier, greener and fairer communities in Birmingham.

To achieve this it works with community development organisations across the city to integrate sustainability within their services, or to helps develop new activities – all resulting in happier and healthier residents while reducing climate impact and improving local green spaces.

• Outdoor environmental education and holiday clubs for pre-school, nurserys, and primary school ages.
• Walking, cycling and route finding for all ages to explore your city and access local green spaces and facilities.
• Health eating advice through cooking lessons on living on a budget and how to equipment such as use an air-fryer or slow-cooker
• Community gardening – how to set up, run and maintain these vital facilities for your community
• Energy advice for individuals renting or owning their home, and community buildings
• Sustainability advice for individual or organisational plans, using the internationally recognised One Planet Living framework.
• Developing sustainability action plans at the council ward level for community ‘anchor’ organisations to work collaboratively with other local partners to attract funding and generate local action.

ecobirmingham supports Birmingham Community Action Network (BCAN), because it views a network of community ‘anchor’ organisations across the city is a key way to deliver its mission. ecobirmingham is keen as a supporter to see how it can support the networks community anchor members identified needs for their residents.

ecobirmingham is starting a three year funded programme to support community anchor organisations Allens Cross Community Association, and the Springfield Project, and also creating a directory of local sustainability delivery organisations to help with this work. ecobirmingham will be sharing this work with BCAN to see if it can be rolled out to other community anchor organisations in the future.
