MECC Trust: Empowering Birmingham’s Communities with Compassion and Innovation

MECC Trust is an independent charity that has proudly served the people of Birmingham since 1979. For over four decades, MECC has supported thousands of vulnerable individuals across some of the city’s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods, helping them to rebuild their lives, strengthen their wellbeing, and thrive with dignity.

Since 2022 alone, MECC worked with over 20,000 clients, offering tailored support through benefits advice, employment services, wellbeing programmes, and creative community initiatives. Their award-winning Mobile Advice Service ensures practical help reaches those who need it most, directly in their communities, removing barriers and fostering independence.

As a leading voluntary organisation, MECC Trust also plays a vital role in strengthening the sector by supporting emerging community groups, helping them establish services, and sharing expertise and resources for collective impact.

Energy and sustainability are now at the heart of MECC’s mission. Their welcoming Energy Café helps residents take control of their energy use through advice, workshops, and one-to-one guidance. MECC also works closely with partners across the city to deliver outreach energy advice, ensuring inclusive access to vital information and support. Their involvement in retrofit projects supports households to become more energy efficient, cutting costs while contributing to the city’s climate goals.

MECC Trust also champions green spaces and outdoor wellbeing. Working collaboratively with local partners, they deliver innovative projects that enhance the outdoor environment, from community gardening to sustainability education. These initiatives are designed not only to reduce climate impact but to foster a lasting sense of pride, ownership, and connection among residents.

Recognised as a two-time award-winning charity in 2023, MECC Trust continues to gain wider recognition for its impact.

From city-wide support to the individual’s personal journey, MECC Trust brings people together through practical help, creative solutions, and heartfelt care, building stronger, more resilient communities for the future.
