About Naseem Akhtar & Lucy Kenny
Naseem Akhtar is the Founder and CEO of Saheli Hub, a multi-award-winning charity tackling health inequalities and empowering women and communities across Birmingham. With over 25 years’ experience in grassroots leadership, she specialises in creating inclusive, culturally sensitive programmes in health, sport, fitness, physical activity and wellbeing. Passionate about prevention and equity, Naseem champions partnerships that deliver lasting impact and systemic change.
Beyond Saheli Hub, Naseem serves on several boards and networks, including the Birmingham Race Impact Group (BRIG) and is also a frequent keynote speaker, sharing insights on grassroots leadership, health equity, and the power of partnerships at national conferences and sector events. Naseem is also on the Board of Trustees at Sporting Equals who are dedicated to promoting greater inclusion, diversity and equality across the sport and physical activity landscape.
Lucy Kenny is a Birmingham-based community leader with a strong commitment to local development and social justice. She is the Vice-Chair of the B:CAN Network and joined Moseley Community Trust as Chief Executive Officer in November 2024, bringing fresh leadership to an organisation dedicated to community-led solutions for the Moseley area. MCT is an independent charity founded in 2001, working across areas including employment support, the environment, health, and community development.
Alongside her executive role, Lucy serves as Chair of Trustees for Kings Heath Action for Refugees (KHAR), a charity working with local individuals, groups, and schools to help refugees, delivering community fundraising events, promoting awareness, and providing befriending, support, and solidarity for refugees and asylum seekers living in Birmingham.
