About B:CAN
A Collaborative Initiative
Birmingham Community Action Network (B:CAN)B:CAN was formed as a collaborative initiative between some of the city's leading community organisations to address gaps created by reduced local services. The B:CAN network brings together a diverse range of organisations and partners to ensure all residents have access to vital resources and support systems.
By integrating efforts, we've built an accessible network comprehensively meeting the community's evolving needs. Whether seeking support, assistance, advice, or new services, B:CAN is here to connect you with the resources you need.

What We Do
What we do and how we do itB:CAN partners operate from welcoming and accessible physical spaces that serve as central hubs for various community activities and services. These hubs are designed to foster a sense of belonging and ownership among all members of our community.
Local residents are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that the community knows best what it needs, and we work to amplify these voices in governance and service delivery.
We celebrate the diversity of our communities and strive to make our activities and services inclusive. We focus on ensuring access for marginalised and disadvantaged groups.
B:CAN operates in a flexible and collaborative way:
- Collaborative Approach: Our members lead projects based on their expertise and influence.
- Value Creation: Through collaboration, we create value for both individual partners and the collective.
- Shared Resources: We are developing an online platform to showcase B:CAN's work and provide easy access to resources and services.
- Open Membership: We welcome community anchor organisations that align with our principles.
- Inclusive Decision-Making: Decisions are made collaboratively with input from all members.
- Regular Meetings: We hold regular meetings to discuss progress, share information, and plan future activities.
As we grow, we remain committed to our core values of community empowerment, collaboration, and inclusivity. Together, we are building stronger, more resilient communities across Birmingham!
